Timeline

Milestones

How a drawing practice became a virtual world: the exhibitions, decisions and outside events that led to RealityJ.

  1. 2011Exhibition

    First tech-art exhibition

    SXSW, Austin, TX

Agustín Di Luciano shows iPad paintings at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Drawing on a touchscreen becomes the seed of a practice that treats new devices as drawing tools.

  2. 2017Exhibition

    First artist in Decentraland

    Decentraland.org

Forests Win opens as the first art exhibition in the open, user-owned metaverse Decentraland. The experience of building worlds that people can walk through together shapes the idea of art as a shared 3D space.

  3. 2019Context

Hand tracking arrives on standalone headsets

Meta Quest gains camera-based hand tracking. For the first time a consumer headset can see the artist's and the visitor's bare hands, which later makes a controller-free artwork possible.

  4. 2022Exhibition

    Tauromaquia and Heart of Okeanos

    Decentraland · Faena Art, Miami

Tauromaquia is shown at Decentraland Metaverse Art Week, curated by Agustina Rinaldi. The same year, Heart of Okeanos, a digital twin made with Faena Art and the Decentraland Foundation, is presented during Art Basel week in Miami.

  5. 2024Project

    Drawings enter Unreal Engine

    Miami

The Chronotopic Reality series begins. Graphite and digital drawings from the Hyperspace series are rebuilt as three-dimensional, animated forms in Unreal Engine 5, and the first RealityJ prototypes run on Meta Quest with hand tracking.

  6. 2025Exhibition

    Museum debut: Realidad Cronotópica

    Museo MARCO, Buenos Aires

Solo exhibition at Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de La Boca (MARCO), Buenos Aires, curated by Melina Ojagnan. RealityJ is presented inside a sculptural pavilion and visitors experience it on site, one headset at a time, over the run of the show.

Forest Goddess at Decentraland Art Week

    Decentraland

Forest Goddess, one of the worlds inside RealityJ, is selected through the open call for artists and curators at Decentraland Art Week 2025.

  8. 2025Exhibition

    El Aleph and Other Portals

    Aluna Art Foundation, Miami

Exhibition curated by the Aluna Art Foundation in Little Havana, Miami, bringing together the drawings and portals that RealityJ turns into inhabitable space.

  9. 2025Project

    Tower Artist Studios Miami

    Tower Hotel, Miami

Agustín becomes a founding member of Tower Artist Studios Miami in the historic Tower Hotel. The studio becomes RealityJ's home base and a place where visitors try the work in person.

    Over 1,000 people on site

    Miami · Buenos Aires

Between Museo MARCO in Buenos Aires and Tower Artist Studios in Miami, more than a thousand visitors have put on the headset and drawn, touched and moved through RealityJ in person, with the artist present.

  12. 2026Project
